Five Things I wish Someone told me when I first started Writing in 2018.

1. Get a blog.

I really wish I had started a blog very early, it would have been a different story by now. It's never too late to start because the best time to plant a tree was 20yrs ago, the second best time is now!

See, the advantages of having a blog is so beautiful. Just go and find out and let's talk.

2. As you release a book, partner with bookstores beforehand.

This idea is amazing. If you're an author who has had paper back to his/her credit, why don't you have an affiliation with major bookstores like Rovingheights in Lagos/Abuja.

There are other bookstores you can research on and see what percentages fit you. I usually tell newbie authors to leave money and build influence. In time, money will come, but let's face the main thing.

3. Attend live trainings/workshops/seminars on writing.

Now that I want to do more of going out and sitting with other geniuses in my field, I am limited. Trust me, it's harder to do this as a young married woman with children under 4. Who will I always leave the children with?

4. Build a community or be part of one.

If I had built a community back then, definitely we would have become a strong force to be reckon with by now. But as much as this look pleasing and inviting, please it's better you understand the REASON why you're setting up that group and how you're going to keep it sustain and lively.

It's not about rushing to open WhatsApp/Telegram group, what will it be meant for?

That's the question.

5. Explore. Travel. Mingle.

Explore the world.

Travel if you can.

Meet new persons. Be free. Welcome new souls to your circle.

Your next blockbuster might just stem from an idea that you got from meeting new people.

Just so you know, the world is an exciting place to live in, but it's sweeter when you come with your uniqueness.
