Don't Give Up On Your Gift : Lessons from My 7-Year Journey as a Writer
Seven years ago, I started to post my writings publicly.
They were real, crude and very relatable pieces.
Just simple everyday stories and lifestyle experiences told from the POV of a young black girl who wanted to soar.
I used the word, 'soar' because writing gave me the wings to express my innermost self with clarity and precision.
I didn't study in English language in the university, but I earned the nickname, 'English teacher' because I did it effortlessly.
I could keep a conversation going, but you would hardly find me starting it- I was that quiet.
I would stay in my room as a serving youth Corp member then and my 500- word post on Facebook would be seen by over 1,000 individuals.
And over 200 people would engage.
You see, the people who cheered me on, encouraged me, and celebrated me back then are still here, today.
Some of them became my students by registering for my writing classes.
Others turned clients who made me see my writing worth.
Few became like a signpost for audacious referrals and recommendations for my brands.
It's seven years this year and I'm still here.
Purposeful
Thriving
Expanding.
And you know the most amazing thing?
It's that I'm still serving purpose through writing.
I've had a lot of unpleasant experiences but my writing spirit didn't die.

Tides will come and go, but the gift, talent and purpose we are blessed with, will always follow us to wherever we are.
Today, I want you to sit still for some few minutes, ask yourself, what skill, talent, and gifts have stayed with you over the years?
If you can identify it, go ahead and check if you're still nurturing it.
And if you can't, here is a cue, that you can begin over again!
Tomorrow isn't lost, but today is promised.
Go and do better.
That skill, that talent, that gift is your beautiful leverage.
Don't give it up.
